What is CSS in web design?

The website is just like a car. The car has some style to it, which makes it attractive and good-looking. It also has a frame and engine, some electrical components that make it able to carry people around. In this case, CSS is everything in web design. It makes it more eye-pleasing. The following images can explain it more broadly.

As you see, the right-hand side image is more eye-catching than the left one. The right one contains CSS, which made it beautiful. In contrast, the left one is more similar to our mom’s description of how the internet was in 1995. A bunch of Black text with white background and the only other color is the blue link color.

What does CSS stand for?

It stands for Cascading Style Sheets.

Who is the developer of this style of sheet language?

Håkon Wium Lie is the developer of CSS who presented this language in 1994.

He is a Norwegian software developer who is better known as the Father of CSS. He also wrote a book by the name of Cascading Style Sheets: Designing for the Web.

Did you know that CSS has been used in games like:
  • Counter strike source
  • Counter strike
  • Pong
  • Simon

HTML is the structure of a website. It keeps everything in the place that it should be. And now, It’s time to talk about CSS. This language identifies the color, fonts, style of a web page. It helps website designers to create a unique space for their users. As a result, It is one of those languages which increases the user experience in a website.

Let’s understand how does it look like while coding:

This language is pretty easy to understand because everything is in three parts. The first part is the selector. This part is to target the HTML element that you want to give style to it. The second part is the property. This part is to choose what needs to change in the HTML element. For example, is it the color, or is it the font? The third part is called value. This part is for setting how your targeted HTML element displays on your web page. For example, you want the submit button to be green, or you want it to be blue. So, You can use this language to get what you need.

It is how it looks like:

How can you find the CSS of a website page?

First, open a browser(Google Chrome, MX5, Microsoft Edge).

Second, search up a website(YouTube, Facebook, Quora).

Third, right-click in a blank area of that webpage. Then, click on inspect or use CTRL + Shift + I in Google Chrome.

Fourth, Look for the Style tab.

Congratulations, now you are in business.

In Conclusion

Let’s summarize what we have learned:

CSS is a language, which is used to style web pages and software. This language had developed to increase user experience while using HTML. The technology wouldn’t come this far from its first stage without CSS. This language is one of those great inventions that made technology fun to use.
